3 brand new Boeing 787-9s to LOT"s fleet as of 2018

Warsaw, January 31st 2017 – LOT Polish Airlines took a key decision on furthering development of its long haul fleet. In accordance to the agreement with Aviation Capital Group in March 2018 the Polish carrier will take delivery of the first out of three brand new Boeing  787-9’s. The aircraft is the longest, most capacious and efficient version of the Boeing’s state-of-art Dreamliner. Initially the new 787-9 will operate LOT’s most popular destinations such as New York and Chicago.

As a stretched version of the 787-8, the 787-9 can fly more passengers and cargo further. In LOT’s three class configuration the aircraft will take onboard 294 passengers: 24 in business, 21 in premium and 249 in economy class. The 787-9 will be the largest aircraft in the history of LOT’s fleet.

Thanks to cutting edge techonlogy, the Drealimliner gives passengers an ultimate travel experience. Lower cabin altitude, better humidity, cleaner air, improved temperature control and excellent sound quality, are just a few of dozens of advantages that this aircraft offers. The 787-9 has composite primary structure, advanced aerodynamics, spacious cabin, the large windows that dim at the touch of a button and  large overhead bins.

In comparison to the 787-8, the 787-9 offers more capacity and  lower per seat operating costs. The new Dreamliners ordered by LOT will be powered by efficient Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines.

”LOT is proud to be the very first airline in Europe, whose long haul fleet relies fully on the Dreamliner. After 4 years in operations this has proved to be an excellent choice. This aircraft is beloved by our passengers and plays a crucial role in the development of our long haul network” – says Rafa³ Milczarski, CEO of LOT Polish Airlines. ”With the 787-9 we will open a new chapter in our history. This aircraft will give as an opportunity to significantly increase the capacity on our existing, most popular routes, in additon to opening new ones. At the same time reduce fuel consumption, better cost and revenue per seat. This gives us a strong boost and makes our airline far more competitive. Fewer CO2 emission, below limits on hydrocarbons, noise below ICAO regulations, makes this aircraft extremaly enviroment friendly, something we care about deeply.” – he adds.

LOT will offer onboard the new Dreamliner 24 full flat business class seats an increase in 20 percent on what is offered currently. The number of seats in premium economy will be the same as in current Dreamliner version – 21. The number of economy class seats will be increased to 249. This gives the Polish National airline the possibility to offer better opportuities for their customers on the most popular and demanded routes.

”This aircraft is the best for our flagship connetions, such as New York and Chicago. Thanks to the increased capacity and lower costs, we will be able to accomodate more passengers for relatively lower prices. At first Boeing 787-9 will operate the flights  to the destinations  in the United States of America, however we hope that soon, we will see them flying to Asia as well.” – adds Milczarski.

With the new 787-9s LOT will continute to be the one of the Worlds airlines with the youngest fleet. LOT currently operates 6 Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners and expects delivery of another 2 in July and August 2017. The LOT Dreamliners are flying on all their long haul destinations: New York, Chicago, Toronto, Beijing, Seoul and Tokyo. As of April 2017, Poland’s National carrier will launch two new US routes – between Warsaw and Los Angeles and between Warsaw and Newark. From August 2017, it will operate direct flights between Krakow and Chicago.

The new 787-9s will be leased from the Aviation Capital Group, one of the worlds leading leasing companies with 28 years of experience in the aviation industry. The aircraft will be delievered brand new straight from Boeing’s factory to LOT’s hub in Warsaw, Poland.

"ACG is delighted to be partnering with LOT Polish Airlines, one of the premier international airlines in Europe by providing three widebody aircraft to facilitate their fleet expansion plans" – said Khanh T. Tran, CEO of Aviation Capital Group.

Fleet expansion is one of the main elements of the airline’s profitable growth strategy. This strategy has been implemented with in the last year. In accordance to this strategy, in October 2016, LOT made additional important decisions pertaining to their fleet development: this year LOT will take delivery of 4 Boeings 737-800 NG and 2 out of 6 brand new Boeing 737 MAX 8’s.  In 2017 LOT Polish Airlines fleet will consist of 51 modern aircraft. By 2020 LOT plans to operate 70 aircraft, including 16 Dreamliner’s of all versions.
