The regulator disclosed that an Emirates aircraft flew at the wrong altitude in the Urumqi region on 17 April, resulting in flight conflict. The "serious incident" was a result of the flight crew mistaking air traffic control instructions.

In another incident on 18 May, an Emirates aircraft lost contact with air traffic control due to its radio communication being cut off. Early investigations have pointed to crew error.

The CAAC says it has made specific safety recommendations to Emirates, and the airline has shared how it is handling the cases internally, as well as the measures it will take to enhance safety.
