SITA AirportHub at Port Moresby Airport is connected by dual international private circuits to Australia, ensuring secure international connectivity into SITAТs global network. This resilient, shared infrastructure solution enhances communications at the airport by greatly minimizing the likelihood of network isolation. Port Moresby Airport can now easily connect all of its applications and IT systems, with SITA AirportHub removing the complexity of dealing with local telecom providers and adding flexibility to route management.
Richard Yopo, Managing Director and CEO, National Airport Corporation, said: УWith a view to delivering greater connectivity to every user of Port Moresby JacksonТs International Airport, National Airport Corporation is proud to become the worldТs latest operator of SITAТs AirportHub IT system. This represents another significant step in the process of upgrading the airportТs capabilities and helping to attract more international and domestic services to Papua New GuineaТs major airport hub."
Sumesh Patel, SITA President, Asia Pacific, said: УSITAТs investment in AirportHub infrastructure over the past few years has been of huge benefit to the entire air transport community. It makes opening new routes at airports much quicker and easier for airlines. When they are connecting their systems at an airport they can now do so within a matter of weeks not months. This streamlined approach is efficient and cost-effective. We are delighted to welcome Port Moresby JacksonТs International Airport as the latest user in the Asia-Pacific region."
Airports are the center of the air transport industryТs communications and are becoming ever more connected. By 2030, 18,000 airline communication connections will be needed at the worldТs airports. The challenge the industry faces is to have reliable, secure, high performance communications Ц consistently across the worldТs airports Ц for airlines, ground handlers, maintenance companies, other airport tenants and the airports themselves. SITA AirportHub enables this at airports around the world ranging from remote and regional destinations serving less than a million passengers to the largest international hubs of the world, which together manage hundreds of millions of passengers every year.
