LOT ANNOUNCES NEW FLIGHTS TO HANOVER

THIS WILL BE THE CARRIER’S EIGHTH DESTINATION IN GERMANY

Warsaw, 16 February 2018 – From 4 June LOT will launch a new route between Warsaw and Hanover. Flights will be operated twice a day on that route. This timetable was planned to ensure passengers from the Eastern and Central Europe, Asia, and North America to travel comfortably to a major business centre in Germany. Tickets are going on sale as of today.

Hanover is already the eighth destination to Germany offered by LOT – apart from Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Nuremberg (starting as of May), Munich and Stuttgart. Hanover is the fourth German destination launched by LOT in the last 12 months – after Berlin, Stuttgart, and Nuremberg.

From Monday to Friday the flights between Warsaw (WAW) and Hanover (HAJ) will be operated twice a day according to the following schedule:

  • WAW 08:15 – HAJ 10:00
  • HAJ 10:35 – WAW 12:15
  • WAW 17:30 – HAJ 19:15
  • HAJ 19:55 – WAW 21:35

On Saturdays passengers can take a late morning flight and an afternoon flight on Sundays.

The plane for the Warsaw-Hanover route chosen by LOT is Embraer 170 which offers 70 seats in three travel classes: business, economy premium and economy. The flight on the Warsaw-Hanover route will last approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes.

On the way to Hanover LOT offers a convenient transfer at the Chopin airport in Warsaw from all airports in Central and Eastern Europe operated by the carrier. In addition, LOT offers a possibility of travelling to and from Hanover from most airports in Poland and many others in Europe even on the same day.

Those flying from Germany will be offered a convenient travel through Warsaw to the airports located in Asia and offered by LOT: to Kazakhstan, Singapore, Beijing, Tokyo, and Seoul, and in the United States: to New York JFK, Los Angeles, Chicago and Newark (near New Jersey).

“Hanover is one of the most important business centres in Germany. This is where CeBIT IT fair takes place, the biggest event of its kind in the world. Our connection will be initiated before the CeBIT fair. The city also hosts a trade fair called Hannover Messe. Fairs are held in Hanover basically throughout the year, which only boosts air traffic” – says Adrian Kubicki, Director of LOT Corporate Communications Department.

In Hanover there are also many other major events. For example, in 2019 this is where the annual European edition of Routes Europe will take place. The representatives of airports and airlines will take part in the conference to discuss plans for new air flights.

There are also many German companies located in Hanover and nearby that conduct their activities on the Polish market, e.g. Volkswagen, Continental, TUI, and HDI.

“The new connection provides our passengers with access to yet another major city in Germany. This step is intentional. We have been consistently expanding our network of flights to our Western neighbours which have extensive business and tourist relations with us” – Adrian Kubicki points out.

At present, via LOT you can reach 10 Lands in Germany. Hanover in Lower Saxony, Munich, and Nuremberg in Bavaria, Berlin, and Brandenburg (via Tegel in Berlin), Mecklenburg via Hamburg, Frankfurt in Hessen and Dusseldorf in North Rhine-Westphalia. In addition, you can reach Schleswig-Holstein via Hamburg and Billund (in Denmark) – the tickets are on offer since last week – and to Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate via Luxembourg. The carrier’s flights to those destinations take place twice or three times a day.

After Billund, Nuremberg, Stuttgart, Gothenburg and Luxembourg, Hanover is the next important mid-size business center in Western Europe providing LOT with an opportunity to develop its network of connections.

The new Warsaw-Hanover connection is also an element of LOT’s 2016-2020 viable growth strategy that the Polish carrier has been implementing consistently and sooner than expected. LOT intends to become the first-choice airlines not only among passengers travelling from Poland but also from other countries of the region. “Our virtues are e.g. a convenient flight timetable with short transfers at the Chopin Airport in Warsaw as well asa modern and quickly expanding fleet” – says Adrian Kubicki from LOT.

In 2017 LOT announced the launch of 27 connections, including from Warsaw to Los Angeles, Newark, Astana and Singapore, from Budapest to New York City and Chicago, from Cracow to Chicago and from Rzeszów to Newark. Last year LOT’s passenger traffic totaled 6.8 m which means that the figure went up by nearly 25% year-to-year. LOT forecasts that its annual passenger traffic will have reached over 10 m passengers until 2020, meaning that the number of its passengers will have doubled in four years.

This year LOT has already announced the launch of seven new connections: from Warsaw to Billund, Moscow-Domodedovo, Hanover, Skopje, Podgorica, Zaporizhia and from Cracow to Budapest.

In 2017 four new aircraft were delivered to LOT: two Boeing 787 Dreamliners and two B737 MAX 8’s. 12 more machines will be added to LOT’s fleet in 2018: three B787-9s (a larger version of the Dreamliner), three B737 MAX 8s and six EMBRAER 195s.

Tickets for LOT’s new flights to Hanover will be on sale as of 9 March using all available channels, including via http://www.lot.com/, LOT Call Center, the LOT Travel offices and travel agents.
