TAV CONSTRUCTION JV TO BUILD NEW PIER AT AMSTERDAM SCHIPHOL

A joint venture between TAV Construction and Ballast Nedam is to build the new pier at Amstersdam's Schphol Airport.  

The contract includes the construction of the pier, gatehouses and the surrounding aircraft stands.

Covering an area of 55,000 square metres, the new pier will boast five gates for narrow-body aircraft on the north side and three gates for wide-body aircraft on the south side. 

The gates on the south side can also be used to accommodate six narrow-body aircraft.

Two wide-body gates will be added to the south side at a later stage. 

The commissioning of the pier, which will be used for both Schengen and non-Schengen traffic, is planned for the end of 2019.

According to the airport, the new pier will be the most sustainable at Schiphol, thanks to design elements such as biomaterial, insulating glass, and reusable plastic and marble rubblework tiles. 

The pier will also feature 5,000sqm of solar panels and use rainwater to flush the toilets.
