PASSENGER NUMBERS AT SAN ANTONIO REACH ALL-TIME HIGH IN JUNE

San Antonio International Airport set a new record for a single month when 887,000 passengers passed through the Texas gateway in June.

Not only was the total the highest number of customers served during any month in the history of the airport but June’s passenger statistics also marked the 24th consecutive month of record growth.

Domestically, more than 849,000 passengers travelled through San Antonio International Airport (SAT) and that represents an increase of 6.8% compared to the same time last year.

The only downside was the 4.6% drop in international passenger numbers.



SAT is scheduled to have 10% more passenger seats in the second half of 2018 than the first half of the year, in time to support the summer travel season.  

“If the numbers continue to grow as we anticipate, we could realistically exceed the 10 million mark in passengers for 2018," enthuses aviation director for the City of San Antonio, Russ Handy.

More than 22,000,000 pounds of cargo passed through SAT in the month of June – an 8.2% year to year increase.  

The upturn is nearly double the average cargo growth for North American airports.
