297 million flights made in China in Q1 2018

The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) reported that 297 million passenger flights were made in the country during the first six months of 2018, which means a 12.4% increase compared to the same period in 2017.

Similarly, the CAAC estimates that commercial flights in the country will reach 612 millions by the end of this year, which would represent an increase of 11% compared to last year.

According to the state news agency Xinhua, the volume of air passengers represents 31% of Chinese transport system.

During the first quarter, 79.52% of flights were on time. Air cargo increased 6.4% year-on-year and reached 3.55 million tons, an increase of 6.4%.

The busiest airports in China are the Beijing Capital International, the Shanghai-Pudong International, the Hongqiao (also in Shanghai), the Hong Kong, the Xi'an Xianyang, the Guilin Liangjiang and the Hangzhou airports.
