Miami and Hong Kong gain Airport Health Accreditation
Miami (MIA) and Hong Hong (HKG) have become the latest airports to become accredited under ACI’s Airport Health Accreditation programme.
The initiative recognises the high hygiene standards and procedures in place at both airports, with accreditation seen as an important first step that will help aviation’s recovery from COVID-19.
“From the onset of the pandemic, our highest priority at MIA has been to exceed industry best practices and implement every measure possible to protect the wellbeing of our customers and employees,” noted MIA’s director and CEO, Lester Sola.
“Accreditation from a global industry leader like ACI, after undergoing its rigorous evaluation process, should provide a high degree of reassurance to our passengers that they can fly safely through MIA”.
While Airport Authority Hong Kong’s executive director, Vivian Cheung, said: “We are honoured to be one of the first airports in Asia Pacific to receive the accreditation, which recognises our continued efforts in implementing various health measures to ensure the safety and well being of the airport staff and passengers.
“Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been working with the airport community and the government in prioritising public health in the airport’s daily operations.
“We will continue to strengthen our works and conduct ongoing self-assessment according to the evolving situation of the pandemic, with a view to maintaining the safe and healthy environment and building passengers’ confidence in travelling at HKIA.”
