Air Taxi India: India’s newest airline to carry 3 passengers per flight

Air Taxi India obtained the Scheduled Commuter Airline Permit issued by India’s aviation regulator the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on December 14, 2020. 

Air Taxi India would operate on a fixed schedule and serve regional short-haul flights between small airports. The airline reportedly plans to commence operations before the end of 2020.

"We got our permit on December 14. We will be applying for slots now," Varun Suhag, Air Taxi India co-founder said. “The airline's operations will be based in Chandigarh. We have a total of 26 routes in RCS," Suhag told Moneycontrol.

The air carrier plans to deploy twin-engine Tecnam P2006T VT-ATC aircraft, which has the capacity to carry three passengers and one pilot per flight. Tecnam P2006Ts aircraft are considered to be one of the lightest twin-engine airplanes in the world, with a range of 1,239 km and maximum cruise speed 238 km/h. 

Air Taxi India was founded by two pilots, Varun Sugah and Poonam Gaur, who previously worked for IndiGo and Air Deccan.
