Russian-made Orlan-10 drone crashes in Romania

A drone, which has been identified as a Russian-made Orlan-10, has crashed in Romania.  

The aircraft has been found by a local farmer in Bistrita-Nasaud county, northern Romania.  

According to Romanian media, the authorities did not comment on the model or the origin of the aircraft, and an investigation has been opened into the incident. 

However, photos of the aircraft, reportedly published by the authorities, allow to identify it as an Orlan-10, a Russian-made observation drone widely used by the Russian military.

The incident comes after several reports that drones connected to the Russian-Ukrainian war had entered the territory of neighboring countries. On March 11, a Soviet-era Tupolev Tu-141 crashed in Zagreb, Croatia.  

A day later, another drone was detected in Hungary’s airspace, prompting the country’s air force to scramble fighter jets. However, the drone disappeared from the radars before being intercepted.
