Singapore Changi Airport launches major drive to hire 6,600 new workers

Changi Airport Group (CAG) has launched a major recruitment drive in Singapore aimed at hiring more than 6,600 new workers for roles at Changi Airport (SIN) in response to the rebound in air travel post-pandemic.

To accelerate the recruitment process, CAG announced in a statement released on May 17, 2022 that it will be holding a roadshow at the Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre near SIN airport between May 27 and May 28, 2022.

Currently, CAG is offering more than 6,600 open vacancies compromising both professional, manager, executive, and technician (PMET) roles as well as non-PMET roles. The airport said it is focused on “attracting talent for much-needed frontline passenger service positions, and newly created roles in innovation and technology” in ground handling, quality assurance coordination, and airport emergency service positions.

“The One Aviation Careers Fair is the must-go event for those looking for a fulfilling career in the fast recovering and growing aviation sector. There will be themed career talks from airport partners across a wide range of positions from passenger services, operations, and engineering. On-site interviews by more than 20 aviation companies will mean suitable job seekers can apply, get interviewed, and be hired immediately,” the CAG statement reads.

“New staff will be proud to know that they are part of the Changi family, contributing to the rebuilding of the air hub as the journey to travel recovery continues in Singapore,” CAG added.

The decision to hire 6,600 new workers was made to further support the country’s aviation sector during the recovery process.

According to recent CAG statistics regarding passenger levels, SIN airport served more than 1.4 million travelers in March 2022, which is approximately a 20% increase compared to pre-pandemic levels. During the first quarter of 2022, the airport handled 2.56 million passengers, which reflected just 16% of the traffic recorded during the same period in 2019.
