Embraer lands a firm order for up to 10 E-Jets P2F conversions

Embraer signed a firm order with an undisclosed customer for up to 10 E-Jets Passenger to Freight (P2F) conversions, the Brazilian manufacturer announced on June 24, 2022.

The E-Jets for conversions will come from the customer’s current Embraer fleet.

The works will be done at the plane maker’s facilities in Brazil and will include installment of main deck front cargo door, cargo handling system, floor reinforcement, Rigid Cargo Barrier (RCB) – 9G Barrier with access door, cargo smoke detection system and Air Management System changes, interior removal and provisions for hazardous material transportation.

Deliveries are expected to begin in 2024.

In a statement released on June 24,2022, the manufacturer highlights that the order is the first firm contract for its E-Jets P2F program and only the second agreement for such operation.

In May 2022, Embraer entered an agreement in principle with Nordic Aviation Capital for conversion slots, under which the aircraft lessor will have up to 10 of its E190 and E195 passenger aircraft transformed into freighters.

Combining under-floor bulk cargo and main deck raises the maximum gross structural payload for the E190F to 13,150kg and for the 195F to 14,300kg. The net weights and volumes for the converted E-jets are 23,600lb (10,700kg) for E190F and 27,100 lb (12,300 kg) for E195F.

Embraer announced its E-Jet P2F program in March 2022.
