London Southend Airport supports ‘Time to Talk Day’ with rail station campaign

South East and Central Essex Mind is supporting the nation’s biggest mental health conversation, Time to Talk Day, a campaign that encourages everyone to ‘get comfortable’ and talk about their mental health. 

This year, SECE Mind in partnership with London Southend Airport, Achieve, Thrive and Flourish (ATF), South Essex Community Hub and Rayleigh Council, created a space for the community to come together to talk, listen and change lives.

There will be dedicated Time to Talk benches at each partnership location for the coming weeks to encourage friends, families, communities and workplaces to have conversations about their mental health.

London Southend is supporting the initiative with ‘Fancy a chat?’ banners installed throughout its on-site railway station and award-winning terminal.

SECE Mind CEO Dr David Sollis said: “On Thursday 6th February we celebrated the art of talking, chatting, listening and caring. The annual event marks an opportunity to check in on friends, families, work colleagues and even strangers. Mental health has a huge impact on people’s lives and all I can ask people to do is please, please make Time to Talk!”

London Southend Airports Corporate & Social Responsibility Manager, Jo Marchetti said: “We are proud to support SECE Mind’s ‘Time to Talk’ initiative by installing bench banners at our on-site railway station and in the terminal itself. These banners serve as a vital reminder that mental health matters, encouraging open conversations and support for one another.”

A spokesperson for SECE Mind said: “Openly talking about mental health can be uncomfortable, but it’s important to normalise those conversations and break the stigma surrounding our mental wellbeing.

“1 in 4 adults in England and Wales experience a mental health problem each year. Time to Talk day aims to bring people together and to highlight that speaking up about your mental health does not need to be uncomfortable or scary.”
