RYANAIR MAY SURVEY SHOWS OTAS VOLA, TIX & EDREAMS OVERCHARGE CONSUMERS UP TO 66% OVER RYANAIR PRICES

Ryanair today (Tues, 13 May) released its May OTA Survey, which shows more overcharging by non-approved OTAs – Vola, Tix, and eDreams. These OTAs continue to inflate prices by up to 66% over Ryanair’s website prices. Tix is the biggest offender, charging 66% more (€14.97) for a reserved seat that costs just €9.00 on Ryanair.com. Vola also overcharges consumers €14.00 for a reserved seat that’s priced at €9.00 on Ryanair’s site, a +56% markup. eDreams is also overcharging with a 49% markup on reserved seats (€11.92), that costs just €8.00 when booked directly with Ryanair.

Ryanair continues its campaign to protect consumers from harmful practices and unjustified overcharging by non-approved OTAs such as Vola, Tix, and eDreams. Ryanair continues to urge EU Governments and Consumer Protection Authorities to take action, calling for mandatory transparency in OTA pricing, in line with the transparent price’s standards upheld by Ryanair’s “Approved OTA” partners.

Ryanair’s Dara Brady said:

“Our May Survey highlights how non-approved OTAs such as Vola, Tix and eDreams continue to harm unsuspecting consumers, with unjustified mark-ups of up to 66% over Ryanair prices. Unfortunately, misguided and ineffective Consumer Ministers, like Spain’s Pablo Bustinduy, continue to turn a blind eye to this ongoing consumer harm.

These non-approved OTAs regularly inflate prices on reserved seating and baggage, without transparency or accountability. We call on EU Governments, ineffective Ministers like Mr. Bustinduy, and Consumer Protection Authorities to act urgently and take urgent action against these overcharging OTAs who continue to cause real consumer harm.”
